Writing for Children

“A professional writer is an amateur
who didn't quit.”— author Richard Bach

“Perpetual optimism is a force multiplier.”— fortune cookie

This page is under construction. It will eventually contain things I’ve learned about writing for children, including:

The writing life – This section will contain miscellaneous tidbits about writing and how it fits into your everyday existence (and we all know it ain’t easy).
Improve Your Chances

The process – From the point of idea, which can sometimes strike like a lightning bolt; to creation, with all its edits and rewrites, joy and agony; to submission (just how the heck do you format that manuscript? and to whom do you send it?); and, hopefully, publication.

Critique groups – This section will discuss the benefits of a critique group and some of the best ways my critique partner, Regina, and I have found to interact to ensure we’re getting the most out of the experience. The process requires a lot of give and take, and I’m lucky to work with Regina, who never fails to supply me with invaluable insight and honesty.
